NFL Predictions - Individual PlayersKritty 08-31-2004, 03:37 PM I'm wondering what people have for predictions for individual players this year. Surprise players, rookies, etc, etc. Fish on The Sand 08-31-2004, 05:37 PM Holmes will win mvp, and Green will prove he wasnt a fluke. Shappa 08-31-2004, 06:01 PM Ray Lewis continues the EA curse, Willis McGahee turns out to be worth the wait, and hopefull the name Brock Lesner is never mentioned on a football field again. Leopold Stotch 08-31-2004, 06:30 PM My predictions: -With Prime Time coming in, Baltimore's already very good defense just gets better. So, I predict the Lewis will continue the EA curse by going down in week 2, but, Deion Sanders will have a very stellar year, and surprise many, and their second MLB, Edgerton Hartwell, will play very good in Lewis' place. -With their contracts up, Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison will have very good years, leading Indianapolis to one of the best offenses in the NFL. Throw in Reggie Wayne and Marcus Pollard, and it'll lead to Peyton Manning winning his second consecutive MVP. -After being re-united with Bill Parcells and Keyshawn Johnson, Vinny Testaverte will have one of his best seasons in a long time. But he's too old to play all the time, so he'll split playing time around 80/20 or 70/30 with Drew Henson, which will lead the young QB to be deemed the best rookie QB of the 2004 season. Eli Manning would take the honor in most cases, but Kurt Warner will keep him off the field with very good play in New York. -In being one of the Lions' best options to throw to, Roy Williams will blow out the competition and win rookie of the year. Only Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald and Oakland's Robert Gallery will even come close. Fire Sather 08-31-2004, 10:10 PM Chad Pennington: 3200 yds, 30 TD, 8 INT. MacDaddy TLC* 09-01-2004, 09:14 AM Tyrone Calico will become Steve McNair's favourite target in Tennessee. monster_bertuzzi 09-02-2004, 01:13 AM -Shaun ALexander rushes for 1500 yds and 20 TD's (contract year). -Peyton Manning records a QB rating of over 100. -Eli Manning takes over for Kurt Warner. -Ben Rothlisberger takes over for Tom Maddux -Terrell Suggs leads the league in tackles -Jevon Kearse regains old form and leads the league in sacks. chris_dub 09-02-2004, 02:30 AM With both Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers & Doug Flutie down with injuries, Ryan Leaf makes a triumphant comeback with the Chargers & goes 12-15 for 242 yds & 2 TD's in his first start since retiring. But his career is tragically cut short, again, after attempting to scramble & Falcons LB Keith Brooking clotheslines him & sends him to the hospital with a severe concussion. The Chargers fold. Hey...it could happen. Kirk Pedersen 09-02-2004, 10:43 AM David Carr slowly but surely begins to show why Houston picked him #1 overall, as his supporting cast improves, so will he. My prediction for him is 2700 yards passing, a 57% rate, 17 TD-14 INT Phillip Rivers struggles mightily because of his lack of mobility, San Diego's horrid offensive line, and his unusual throwing mechanics. He sees the field less than five times after week 5. Terrell Suggs and Jevon Kearse battle it out for the sack leader, but Warren Sapp isn't far behind, going to a new team puts some new fuel in his sputtering motor. Justin Fargas gives Tyrone Wheatley a serious run for his money in Oakland for the #1 RB job, at the very least, carries are 60-40. Drew Henson doesn't see the field until Parcells sees that old Vinny is three years past his prime, which will be week 13 or later. Quincy Carter violates the substance abuse policy yet again and is cut by the Jets. Kellen Winslow Jr. leads all rookies in receiving but is carted off to a mental hospital in week 15 after demanding that Jeff Garcia be replaced by himself as the starting Quarterback. New York is smart and keeps Eli Manning off the field, letting Kurt Warner take the licks facilitated by the Giants' porous offensive line. Some team signs Ray Brown, because it happens every year. Joey Harrington finally begins to turn a corner in Detroit, with a young stud receiver on either side and his natural talent, failure shouldn't be in anyone's vocabulary, but it remains to be seen whether or not Kevin Jones can carry the load in his first year. Carson Palmer is kept on a short leash in Cincy. If the Bengals are slow out of the gate, Kitna sees some reps. Hockeyfan02 09-02-2004, 11:36 AM Kevan Barlow finishes in the top 5 in rushing. (Hey I'm a 49ers homer and there isnt much to be homer about this year). chris_dub 09-04-2004, 11:39 PM Kellen Winslow Jr. leads all rookies in receiving but is carted off to a mental hospital in week 15 after demanding that Jeff Garcia be replaced by himself as the starting Quarterback. :lol :lol Does that mean a new contract holdout? ChubarovRocks 09-04-2004, 11:59 PM Brandon Lloyd (49'ers) is the breakout player of the year. Winslow II gets his ass handed to him. Emmit Smith will prove why he should of retired a long time ago... LaDanian Tomlinson will prove why he's the best back in the game, leading the league in rushing yards. Rivers will flop in his first year. MontrealCruiser_83* 09-05-2004, 12:33 AM Tyron Calico becomes #2 receiver by the end of the season and puts up similar but slightly better numbers then Porter did in 2002.... Brown rushes for 1200+... Vikings don't make the playoffs... Roethlisberger becomes starter week 12... Palmer starts ahead of Manning after Warner goes down in battle... Shaun Alexander has 20+ rushing TD's... Kirk Pedersen 09-05-2004, 01:05 AM :lol :lol Does that mean a new contract holdout? Anything's possible. ;) :joker: JCD 09-05-2004, 06:52 AM Vick is a bitter disappointment in the WCO. Gibbs is the only new HC that doens't have a losing record. Vikes make the play-offs! :D Favre doesn't miss a game. McNair does. Titans defense sinks way back as they struggle to make the post-season. Owens has the best year of any Eagle WR in recent history, but still performs well below previous expectations. The old farts in Dallas (Testeverde, Keyshawn, George) all do a fine job and help the Cowboys offense control the clock. New York Giants have a major locker-room cleaning as players revolt against Coughliun's style. Several notable players leave/are cut. Thomas Jones bombs as a featured back. Yet again. Harrington has a break-through season in Detroit. Stephan Davis gives up more and more carries to Foster, by the end it is near 50/50. This is the last season (starting for certain) for a number of Bucs: Garner, Johnson, Deese and Tim Brown to start. Saints find a way to lose. Again. Wistrom proves to be the most overpaid FA of the summer, but still does an adequate job. Faulk ends up the second best back on the roster. Faulk is too proud and Martz to stubborn to give way to Jackson. McCown ends up the worst starting QB in the NFL, Arizona improves by only one game. Denny Green's ego limits how much Arizona can improve. Niners become the new Cardinals. Pennington earns every penny of his new contract. AJ Feely does not. ObeySteve 09-05-2004, 10:40 AM Owens has the best year of any Eagle WR in recent history, but still performs well below previous expectations. Jeez, how high do you think the expectations are? Personally, I'll be happy with just 1200 yards recieving and 12-13 TD catches. Vagrant 09-05-2004, 12:23 PM Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb find early chemistry and enjoy one of the best regular seasons for the Eagles ever, only to be knocked out in the Conference Championship or before. Julius Jones takes over the full-time running back position in Dallas which prompts Eddie George to announce that the 2006 season will be his last in the league. Jones thrives under Parcells and becomes the new Curtis Martin. Dan Morgan finds a way to stay healthy this year and lives up to his billing as one of the top middle linebackers in the game when he can stay healthy. Urlacher continues to fight injuries and inconsistancy. Philip Rivers has an average season in which he has a 1:1 ratio of TD's to INT's and lays the ground work for the Chargers rebuilding process. Along with Tomlinson, the Chargers manage to win 7 games despite a lack-luster defense. Michael Vick impresses in his first 8 games of action before going down with a hamstring or leg injury and misses a large portion of the remainder of the season. The West Coast offense is scrapped shortly thereafter. Matt Hasselbeck and Koren Robinson become on of the most underrated and dangerous tandems in the entire league. Robinson and Hasselbeck both recieve pro bowl berths, while the Seahawks get a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Deion Sanders plays solid, but unspectacular defense as the Ravens have another fantastic defensive season while having trouble moving the ball on the offensive side due to the fact that Jamal Lewis fights drug charges and nagging injuries all sesaon long. Lewis finishes under 1,300 for the season. Kyle Boller continues to struggle. Carson Palmer proves why the vote of confidence was placed upon him at the start of this season and manages to take the Bengals to a 10-6 record with the help of Rudi Johnson's legs and Chad Johnson's fantastic ability. Bengals don't survive their first playoff matchup, however. The Carolina Panthers solidify themselves as one of the elite teams in the league with another fantastic season on both sides of the ball. Jake Delhomme proves that he was no one-year wonder and leads the Panthers to a 12-4 record this year while taking the NFC South crown for the second straight season. Quincy Carter fails another drug test for the Jets halfway through the season. He is shortly thereafter cut, and forced into a drug rehabilitation program. Ricky Williams continues to live the life of lesuire after announcing his retirement from the league this past offseason. However, the draw of football continues to chase him despite what he says. He returns to camp next season only to find out that the Dolphins have burned their bridges as far as he is concerned. Williams is traded at the draft for a 1st Round Pick, and is forced to sit out the first 4 games with his new team due to a 4th failed drug test that he missed by default. Kellen Winslow II finds that his mouth is the most spectacular part of his game while facing the brunt of every linebacker in the league. On his rather wirey frame, he finds it hard to adjuts to the NFL after his first season. After only 1 touchdown catch last year in Miami, Winslow doubles that to 2 this year and falls off quite a bit from the expectations. Kurt Warner suffers a concussion, Manning finishes the season out. Big McLargehuge 09-05-2004, 12:34 PM Hines Ward: 105 receptions, 1200 yards, 10 TDs, 56 pancakes JCD 09-05-2004, 12:52 PM Jeez, how high do you think the expectations are? Personally, I'll be happy with just 1200 yards recieving and 12-13 TD catches. Kinda made my point, "just" 12-13 TDs? I doubt Owens hits those numbers. Eagles spread the ball around too much, every third play won't be designed for Owens and the Eagles will not be forced to catch-up as much as the 49ers had too. I am thinking 1100 yards and 9-10 TDs. | ||
