Chistov?

(assuming there is a season)

what phase of his contract is he in (RFA?)

based on last season's demotion, is that a sign that he'll languish in Cincy and/or get dealt, or is Stan truly a part of the long-term plan in Anaheim (is there a long-term plan?)

i really like the way this kid plays, seems like he was in a sophomore slump, snakebit, and getting sat probably unhinged his confidence a bit... any insights?

thanks...

I have to imagine he'll be given every chance to succeed provided there is a season this year. It helps that there is a gaping 1st/2nd line hole now with Vinny's departure.

I remember Babcock saying last year that he will blame himself if Chistov isn't a star when he is 23 (or 25?). So I guess the coaching staff is pretty high on him and he will be given every chance to succeed.

I like Stan. The problem is he can stick-handle in a phone booth, and sometimes he gets too concerned with making the fancy play, and doesn't make the right, simple play.

I suppose that comes from being so talented, you want to make the highlight reel play. But hopefully, with some maturity he will learn to keep it simple. I think he would benefit from playing on a line with a veteran, like he did when Stumpy was on his line.

Hopefully he comes to camp in good shape this year.

well since there will be no NHL season Stan will get a full AHL season which should help his development.

For those worried about the eligibility rule for the AHL in a lockout (50 games played in AHL last year), Hockey News mentioned that it will likely be dropped due to numerous GM complaints and thus revert to normal waiver rules.

Chistov is a major part of the future of the Ducks along with Lupul and Getzlaf.

The problem is he can stick-handle in a phone booth,

I've heard this phrase so often regarding Stan it's driving me nuts.

Hey, it's great that he can stickhandle like crazy, but what good is it if he only does it on the perimeter? He should use his stickhandling to attack the defense and get himself into more dangerous scoring areas, and force the defense to stop him. Instead, most of the time he'll jitterbug around for 15 seconds until he runs out of options.

It's not that he doesn't shoot enough, it's that he doesn't use his stickhandling to get into SHOOTING POSITION often enough. He can't take shots that aren't there.

He's what 21? 22? Cut the kid some slack. It's a process, in 2 years if he is the same player then by all means attack him. But give him some time to learn the NHL game. Not every player can come into the league and automatically dominate.

First off I am so sick of people wanting to throw our 1st round picks into the lineup the second they sign. Yeah I am talking to all you fools who automatically throw Getzlaf into the lineup for next year. Rushing a kid along is the dumbest thing a franchise can do. It never hurts a player to start him at a lower level watch him and if he dominates then by all means bring him up.

Secondly, Chistov was mismanaged, he should have spent 2002-2003 in Cincy instead of up with the big club. Anyone who watched him even in training camp could see he wasn't ready. He played poor in Anaheim last year and didn't woo anyone in CIncy either. He has a long way to go, and I for one would like to see him start again in Cincy this year and make him prove he belongs in the NHL before we just hand it to him. However with the dealing of Propsal I don't see that happening.

I'm sure as he gets older he'll learn that, he had a good playoffs for cincinatti so we'll see what happens.

People giving up on this guy are losing their minds...the guy is 21, most 21 year olds don't know what it takes to be committed. He's gone through the growing pains it's how he reacts to them that will be the true test.

If he takes a step forward and gets 40+ points(reachable) then i don't think we'll have to worry about him.

If there is no season next year for the NHL, I am excited to see Chistov, Getzlaf, and Perry on the same line for Cincy. They would make a good third line in the NHL, in a year from now when it starts up again. I at first wanted to see Lupul on a line with Getzlaf and Chistov but Lupul has already proved he deserves to be in the big league. And I don't see him on the third line in the NHL. He is a 1st or second line player. Plus, Perry is supposed to have outstanding puckhandling and playmaking ability. With Perry and Chistov both being awesome with puckhandling, not to mention that Getzlaf's and Perry's height (6'3) would make Chistov's height (5'9-5'10) not so vulnerable anymore (Lupul is only 6'1), this line might be very dominate in a year from now when the NHL starts. I can see them as an awesome third line. They can play on the first line in Cincy, get used to knowing where eachother is on the ice, and then play on the third for Anaheim in a year from now.

I think if there is no NHL season then Getzlaf stays in the WHL. Perry is going to stay in the OHL either way I think.

How about a Chistov-Lupul-Kunitz Cincy line instead?
