Been in the hit & run position before, always a PITA. On that note, I just noticed a brutal paint chip in the passenger door of my *** new ATS-V, it looks like a shopping carriage hit it or something. Whatever it was, I certainly wasn't around when it happened! That's going to need some solid repair work, it is pretty deep.
And I just changed the timing chain on my wife's SRX (the smaller Cadillac crossover SUV) a few months ago. Cost @ dealer was $3K, but I knew the tech who did it for me privately at 2/3 cost. Surely could have found a cheaper place, but peace of mind goes a long way. I'm not familiar with any mechanic shops since I usually do all of my work myself. Times have changed since I've last had to do a lengthy, involved job like this and I flat out have zero patience and almost as little time to bother anymore. Point is, 1500 could be worse
