Golden Knights right wing Phil Kessel can tie the record for consecutive NHL games played Monday against Toronto and can break the mark Tuesday at San Jose.
FWIW, it seems that Kessel has also been a very good example for our other centers in terms of playing tough defense and digging the puck out on the boards. "Here is what you need to do to be a championship center."
Watching last night's game I was thinking the same thing. If they're afraid to scratch him then trade him to shitty team where he can float around and play out the string. At the cap hit it was worth a shot but Phil is done. Not good enough offensively for the top line or defensively to play on the third line on this team.
I don't think they're afraid to scratch him. This organization has no issue being the "bad guy". They just don't have anyone better than him to take his spot. A 3rd of the lineup right now is already AHL forwards. There's no one to call up that's any good.
