So sad enjoyed watching him on Sportscetre.

RIP Dutchy

He came back in September 2022 for a short time after he was diagnosed with cancer and talked about it at the end of the show.

I used to stay up every night until 11 pm to watch Darren on Sports Night on ITV in Edmonton in the early 90's when I was young to see the Oiler highlights. He was just a young chap back then. Probably my favorite sports show TV host ever.

Yup, he and Perry Solkowski were a great team. RIP Dutchie.

Always liked Dutchy, seemed like a funny and down to earth guy, and as someone who always watched TSN growing up he was a big part of my sports fandom. Very sad and too young, RIP

Such a great guy. I met him back when one of my buddies was doing a highschool internship at ITV.


Darren filmed a gag video birthday present for my buddy, where he put on an intro-segment where he pretended like my buddy was an all-time great Oiler who broke records, and was set to break Gretzky's all-time point record.

We made my buddy into a fake Upperdeck hockey card holding the cup (Photoshopped his head onto Chris Joseph's Body), and a fake video (ripped video from NHL 96), and Darren thought it was awesome and wanted a card.

shocked when i woke up to this news dutchy was one of the best i loved watching him on tsn growing up all those yearss back i lost my mom to cancer also its terrible he was way to young may he rest in peace and condolences to his family its a sad day in the sports world

I was shocked to see this in the front page of tsn today. Didn’t even know he was going through it. Rip. He was one of the best tsn guys.
