I don't think it was typical at all. It's very bad precedent letting it go IMO.
Despite the fact that Marchand was throwing a late hit, it's an obvious punch (you can't see the contact but it's obvious from the reaction of Bennett's stick in the same hand)
Not a good look for the League letting it go.

I hope he plays. But I also hope the Doctors put his health first. No pushing the boundaries or bending the rules particularly with brain injuries. I would hate for his family to be dealing with long term repercussions even if it meant we would move on in the playoffs. Mental health over sports glory and it’s not even close.
