Ah, coffee, the nectar of the gods. Thoughts the morning after:
- Holy f*** the defense is bad! How?? Five 1st round picks in the front seven and three high-priced free agents in the secondary and they have been marched through like warm butter the first two weeks. They look totally out of sync and unsure of what to do. 400 yards of offense allowed the first two games ain't gonna cut it. JDR better make some changes and fast.
- Taylor Heinicke has game. In his only two starts he's carried the team and gave them a chance to win. 300/2/1 is his average for those two games. I don't know what his longevity or ceiling is but there's something there.
- That said, it looked like a different TH last night. Didn't play with as much reckless abandon and didn't make the off-script plays he normally makes, which could also be a good thing because that meant he didn't have to scramble every down. Looked pretty nervous at first and sailed some passes. Loved how he improved as the game went on, though.
- For all of the shit the OL got last week, and rightfully so, they deserve credit this week. TH had time to go through his progressions and a clean pocket most of the night.
- Why did they stop running the ball? Gibson averaged 5.5 YPC and they were picking up chunks of yardage almost every play... the turf made more tackles at the line of scrimmage than did the Giants.
- Speaking of slipping, what the hell FedEx? What a cursed shit hole that place is. Turf monster tripped up half a dozen guys last night and poor Nick Gage is the latest victim of the FedEx injury cure.
- Seriously, figure it out, Defense. When (if) Samuel gets back and if Heinicke can keep playing like he's been playing the offense will move the ball and put up points. Would be a shame if this (at the moment) terribly overrated defense was the reason the season went to shit.
- You kidding me, Graham Gano?
