Welp. I thought Gignac was an awesome depth piece for Montreal the past few games. I would have liked to see him keep getting a chance.

It will help Laval for sure. Maybe that was the point.

He's the kind of guy you want in the AHL, who can look OK in the NHL as an injury call-up... A very slow team might be tempted to claim him since he definitely has wheels, but it's a risk you have to take to keep depth in an organization.
