The NHL is living with the disease and that "living with" means being compliant with the government regulations. They only way a corporation can take initiative on anything is to take part in lobbying.

The society isn't going back to normal. The reason is the same as why they haven't gone back to e.g. the 80's, 70's or 60's-style of economy/society.

The one problem with this is that Canada has mandatory testing. This is why the NFL can play through asymptomatic cases and the NBA is going to as well (I suspect the Raptors might wind up in Tampa again). The issue is the international travel of hockey.

I think this break is great news for the panthers and especially our stars not having to go to China or the Olympics.

As of now the game the 27th is on vs Carolina but it's Christmas break so no testing for either team till the first practice the 26th. Andersen was just placed on the Covid list so he's is out for them, but as to who is back for Carolina and who is back for Florida, not gonna know till then.
