SABRES ACQUIRE COLEMAN FROM FLAMES
March 8, 2024
BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired forward Blake Coleman from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
Coleman (5’ 11”, 199 lbs, 11.28.1991) comes to Buffalo following three seasons with the Flames where he amassed 117 points and 166 penalty minutes in 225 games. He previously spent parts of five seasons with the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to turning pro, Coleman spent two years in the United States Hockey League and four years with the NCAA’s Miami Redhawks. The Plano, Texas native was drafted in the third round, 75th overall by the Devils in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
“Blake is a big acquisition for our group,” said the Sabres GM. “We have a young room full of high-skill guys, and Blake will be able to provide both veteran leadership and a physical presence we have been lacking.”
