That is weird, he took his entire draft year off, other then the world juniors. Which does not make sense, since Canada would not bring him to the tournament if he wasn't playing.

"With the Ontario Hockey League canceling its 2020-21 season due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, Johnston's only hockey came with Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. Playing a checking role, he scored four points (two goals, two assists) in seven games to help Canada win the tournament."

I'd already forgotten about COVID-19 apparently.

Ok that makes it make sense lol. So he was drafted with his 4 points in 7 games for team Canada and his 30 points in 53 games as his own marker of what he could be.

Let's not forget the 1st time this happened, he was holding a woman against her will.

I hope he doesn't/hasn't hurt someone else.

Pavs only has 1 point in 11 games, would be ironic if he lifts the Cup during his worst ever playoffs.
Not that it matters -- dude obviously has problems -- but it isn't likely he was the one holding her against her will. She spoke to the police that someone who had her passport was holding her against her will. Likely her trafficker.

The likeliest story here is that Nichushkin has a coke problem and hired a prostitute (probably one of many), got caught and/or did too many drugs with her and she got super F'd up, he bolted for Russia, the team doctor found her (or maybe found both of them and had him get the F out of dodge and they got away with it). Absolutely not a shining example of a good teammate/sportsman/gentleman. But he's not likely the human trafficker.

If you know how to buy a woman from a trafficker, you are not any better than the trafficker,

I'm with you morally, but the law disagrees.

Total speculation, but my pet theory is that the Seattle PD / FBI are trying to crack a big powerful ring of trafficking and basically squashed this story so that their infiltration/investigation didn't get compromised. The other reasonable explanation of course, is pure immoral stupidity on behalf of the NHL and Avs.
