Huge win for Rahm especially given what happened to him a couple weeks ago, he couldn't have handled it better than he did and it paid off in a huge way. Also, it's great to see Rahm's entire family there with him on Father's Day and considering he's the first player from Spain to win the US Open, a great moment for the nation given how hard Spain's been hit by the virus.
It's also a shame that every other player in contention folded the way they did, there were many moments in this round where it looked like it could be a 7-way playoff:
- Louis hit it into the hazard off the tee on 17 which basically killed his chances
- Brooks was within one but made bogey on 2 of the last 3 holes
- Morikawa was tied for the lead until he made double on 13
- Rory was also tied for the lead until he went +3 on holes 11 and 12
- Bryson had the solo lead at the turn but played the back nine to 8-over par in what was an utter collapse
- Casey looked like he could be the clubhouse leader but just like Rory, he went +3 on 11 and 12
- Young Matthew Wolff was right in the mix until he shot himself in the foot by making 5 bogeys in 6 holes
- DJ and JT also made their way onto the leaderboard but they both had big numbers on the back nine which instantly took them out
- Henley and Hughes, who tied for the lead after round 3, both collapsed by shooting 5-over or worse, although this was expected given the lack of pedigree of both players
